Visage
Simple Privacy-Friendly Web Analytics for Self-Hosters
Visage is a simple, privacy-friendly web analytics solution for self-hosters.
It helps you understand how many visitors your websites are getting, where they come from and what they're looking at, without tracking individuals, setting cookies or storing personal data. As such, Visage is compliant with privacy policies like the GDPR, and doesn't require a cookie banner.
It's 100% free and open source, available on GitHub.
Getting started
See the Deployment section for details on how to get started.
Use case
Most analytics tools were built for ad-driven platforms instead of people looking to simply track basic performance and popularity stats for their websites.
Visage was created to fill that gap: a lightweight, self-hostable alternative that gives you the most important numbers, without handing any visitor data to third parties.

Privacy
Visage is designed to be privacy-friendly by default:
- No cookies
- No personal data storage
- No cross-site identifiers that could link visitors across sites or sessions
- If you choose to enable (coarse) geolocation enrichment, visitors' IP addresses are used once for country and city derivation, and are then immediately discarded
- Self-hosted: all analytics data is stored on your server and nowhere else
Export
All of your analytics data can be exported from the settings page at any time.
